It can be challenging to choose between the Blix Packa and the Rad Power Bikes RadWagon, especially since you probably won’t be able to ride each bike to see which one rides or performs better for your needs. Knowing a little bit about the specifications of an electric bike might reveal a lot.
Both of these bikes contain sturdy parts that should be dependable and functional. The Packa’s advantages over the RadWagon include its lower standover height (21 inches as opposed to 23.6 inches), higher payload capacity (400 pounds as opposed to 350 pounds), and lower minimum seat height (21 inches as opposed to 23.6 inches).
The type of motors used by each is perhaps the most significant distinction between the two. A 500 watt (750 watt peak) direct drive rear hub motor powers the Packa. Direct drives have the advantages of being more durable, having fewer moving parts to wear or break, being quieter, and having a higher top speed.
When applying the brakes, direct drive motors’ regenerative capabilities might help recharge the battery. Although the charge is typically negligible, direct drive motors provide this convenient advantage. This has the drawback that you will experience some pedal drag.
The RadWagon now uses a geared hub motor, which is new with the revised RadWagon 4. Direct drive was employed in earlier RadWagons. A geared motor has the benefits of having more torque, being lighter, and being well-suited for more demanding jobs. In fact, the RadWagon 4 boasts twice as much torque as preceding models—from 40 Nm to 80 Nm.
The RadWagon will be better equipped to climb slopes and take off from a standstill because it has more torque, while the Packa has the quieter, more efficient motor. So the RadWagon is likely the best option if you expect to encounter several slopes. The Packa would be your choice if you want a motor that has fewer moving components to wear out, has a greater range (with two batteries), and is quieter.

But there are other factors as well. The Packa has a lower standover height and is a little bit lighter than the RadWagon. If you’re on the shorter side, you might find the Packa to be more manageable.
The RadWagon, however, has smaller, broader tires that work to reduce the center of gravity. Keeping big weights balanced will be simpler. Those specialised 22″ x 3″ tyres will offer excellent stability. There is less frame flex with the RadWagon because its frame is firmer as well.
Accessories
Accessories are another thing to consider. Blix isn’t far behind Rad in this department, but Rad has more accessories for the RadWagon.
You will probably need handrails if you intend to carry little children on the back of your bike. Both businesses provide this. Rad refers to them as the Caboose and Blix as the VIP area. It’s great that both bikes work with Thule Yepp Maxi child seats.
Running boards are included with The Packs at no additional charge. Running boards are an additional $99 option for the RadWagon.
There are additional front racks, baskets, platforms, and cushions available at comparable pricing.

When acquiring an electric bike, keep in mind the availability of spares and continuous customer service. You must consider if you will be able to get replacement batteries in 5 years.
The RadWagon requires a special tyre size, which you must acquire from them. Should you be concerned about it? No, since Rad Power Bikes is the leading seller of ebikes in the United States. The firm is backed by large investors and is expanding. You will very certainly be able to obtain new components in the future.
What about Blix? Blix is another well-known brand with high-quality bicycles. Their bikes are consistently scored highly by reviewers and customers. I don’t anticipate any problems obtaining customer service or assistance from Blix in the foreseeable future due to the ongoing growth in ebike sales. They’re a pretty safe bet too.

Other Thoughts – Radwagon vs Blix packa
It’s difficult to choose between these two electric cargo bikes because you truly can’t go wrong with either of them. It can just come down to your own particular preferences. The Packa has a stylish, modern frame that appears a bit more approachable. Although the RadWagon is constructed like a tank, it does not ride like one.
If you’re looking for a sizable user base, Rad Power Bikes boasts the most vibrant online community. There are Facebook communities where you may ask for advice or just talk about your riding exploits. There is a considerably smaller Blix community.
The Packa’s multiple battery capability and range with two batteries outperform the RadWagon in terms of specs. But the RadWagon’s 45-mile range is also rather commendable. The Packa is the obvious choice if you want to charge less frequently and not have to worry about running out of juice because the majority of riders won’t be riding more than 20 miles or so on their rides anyhow.
I’m attracted to the RadWagon simply because I know the firm so well. I’ve had a RadRunner before and really liked it. It uses the same motor as the RadWagon, and although being quite noisy, it was very powerful. I also had some contact with Rad’s customer support, and they were prompt and quite attentive.
I also contacted with Blix, and they were quite responsive. I inquired whether if I purchased the single battery option now, I would be able to add the second battery later. To put it another way, does the bike already have the circuitry to support installing a second battery? The answer is yes. It’s a better value to buy the dual battery option upfront because you’ll save hundreds of dollars, but if you don’t want to pay that much money up front, at least you’ll know you can upgrade later.
The Packa would be my choice because of its quieter motor. Because I don’t want to draw attention to myself and because I like to listen to birds rather than loud engines, I truly despise loud motors on the bike path. How much more noise-free is the Packa’s engine than the RadWagon’s? Oh, how I wish I did.
When that happens, you really want you could see and hear the bike in person. Fortunately, I’ll be able to do so shortly since this spring, I’ll be examining both of these bikes firsthand. I am eager. I hope this comparison helped you until then.
