These handy, take-along walking guides–filled with essential maps, inspirational photos, and insider tips–showcase the world’s great cities in a practical, streamlined, itinerary-driven format.

The best way to appreciate the city is to walk: it is only on foot that you can explore the lively districts in all their variety and diversity. This volume offers 14 itineraries that will guide you step by step to the most hidden and picturesque corners of Paris. The “Whirlwind Tour” section includes ideas for visiting the entire city in one day or in a weekend, enjoying a solo trip or a family visit with children. The walks through the city, from the Tour Eiffel and Les Invalides to Place du Châtelet and Les Halles, touch on each of the points of interest on the map. The more detailed descriptions offer interesting information about the museums and other sites, including the Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Paris, the Musée du Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe.

Decidedly Parisian, the guide introduces the reader to the more unusual aspects of the city’s culture, such as haute couture, art, theatre, and the best of local life, from street markets to minor museums and visits to architectural peculiarities.

Review: This book was PERFECT. My husband and I would simply choose an attraction for the day, and then find a good one of these tours and follow it around the city, stopping at various locations for food, shopping or just to sights see. My favorite was the Moulin Rouge area tour, but to be honest all of them were great. The information they provided were all interesting, and just long enough to be interesting without dragging on. In a city with so much history there really was no wrong walking tour to pick. We spent hours wandering the city finding hidden spots and gems that we would have otherwise missed.

Title: Excellent book for planning a trip to Paris
Review: Excellent book for planning a trip to Paris! The book is laid out according to areas, with a detailed walk through each. It is a bit smaller than most guide books, with about 200 pages and nicely illustrated. Each area walk has a good map to follow and it is going to be very useful. A trip later this year will put it to good use. I am even considering dismantling the book and only carrying that day’s walk with us! Have looked at many books and this is one of the most useful.

Title: Nice little book!
Review: Thought this might give some ideas of what to do for a three day stay in Paris. It met all my expectations, had several good maps to guide us around, and identified different districts and highlighted what to see. There were ideas for pay venues and lesser known free venues. It is small enough to fit in a purse of travel bag and concisely arrangement for easy navigation and referral. Definitely would recommend.
