Unboxing of the Luminette
The glasses are delivered in a strong cardboard packaging to protect the equipment. By lifting the protective box, you will first find a rigid plastic case that closely resembles the protections for glasses that you may have at an optician. Obviously, the case contains the light therapy glasses.
The second step of unboxing is to remove the cardboard structure where the holster was. You will find below a white microfiber cloth for the maintenance of the Luminette, a blue cord to hold these around the head and a user’s manual. Finally the last element is a USB charger with an adaptable plug to charge the device.
Design and Ergonomics of the Luminette
The Luminette gives in the futuristic design, with a structure all plastic. Yet the whole forms a solid whole, because the matter is rigid; especially with regard to foldable branches. The visor, it is made in opaque white with a plastic support made to rest on the nose.
Inside, there is a power button made to activate the glasses, but also to adjust the light intensity. There are also two LEDs for each eye with under reflectors for the light. Finally, it is also on the frame of the glasses the support to connect and recharge the device once the batteries flat.
The ergonomics of the Luminette pose frankly problem. The first concern of the object is the fact that it is not adjustable. Indeed the occiput of the user must be at the right size to fully enjoy the glasses.
The second major problem of the product is its comfort of use. The plastic support made to hold on the nose weighs after a few minutes of testing, it takes a while to get used to the device. Yet the weight announced by the manufacturer of 69 grams seems derisory, but each of our testers complained during tests. However, manufacturers have thought of this point by incorporating a protective pad to be placed on the support that is aesthetically very unspecified but that does the job and relieves your nose.
Application of the Luminette
In the user manual, the manufacturer announces that an application is available for free download on the App Store and Android services. The application is called MyLuminette and serves as a complement to the glasses by creating a complete program.
After entering your personal information: age, bedtime and time to get up; in addition to some details, you can program your well-being schedule. Depending on your trouble select Circadian or Jet Lag Disorders. If you choose the first option, a range of symptoms is offered to simplify the program.
Once the information is entered, the application calculates a program for the month with several tips on a time slot. For example, 30 minutes of exposure to Luminette, 7 hours of non-exposure to daylight and taking of melatonin in addition.
Ease of use of the Luminette
The light therapy glasses are quite simple to take in hand. First, you must connect the device to the power supply in order to charge it before use. Once the glasses are loaded, simply press the power button on them to start the lowest light intensity. In addition, adjust the height of the glasses so that it is just above your eyes.
Depending on the program you are advised to use, press the power button again to change the light intensity of the glasses. Once the product is launched, simply wait the recommended time for the benefits of light therapy.
By the time that it makes its effect, you can go about your business, except of course if you drive. The user’s manual explains that if you suffer from certain eye diseases or if you are manic-depressive do not use the device.
Do not expect a use to make you thunderous instantly, the program is spread over a month. The major problem is that the glasses weigh so much on the user’s nose that it is necessary to take breaks. The main (and only) competitor of the product created by Lumiced is the PSIO created by Psychomed. The product is based on relaxation and relaxation.
