The smart health TAG Heuer connected Modular 45 is the second smartwatch from the Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer. The look of the current generation can be highly customized, and the watch is also modular. We have tested the smart health connected Modular 45 in the past few days. You can read what we think of the luxury smartwatch for iPhone and Android in this TAG Heuer connected Modular 45 review . The Smartwatch unit of the smart health connected Modular 45 is available in different materials: aluminum, titanium, ceramic, with up to ten diamonds or in gold with 18 carats. The price range is correspondingly broad: it starts at around 1400 euros and ends at 6100 euros. The overall height is 13.75 millimeters, which is comparatively thick. The second generation of the Apple Watch comes to 11.4 mm. The weight of the TAG Heuer watch varies depending on the nature. The smartwatch is controlled via a button on the right-hand side or via the large and bright Amoled touchscreen display with a diameter of 1.39 inches. This is protected by a 2.5 mm thick glass made of sapphire crystal and has a resolution of 400 × 400 pixels. The sharpness is excellent – the fine digital dials from TAG Heuer look great. Around the round screen sits a steady bezel with a minute display in intervals of five. As with the last TAG Heuer smartwatch, this model also uses a processor specially developed by Intel for wearables. There is also 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage for storing apps or music files. With the smartphone – whether Android or iPhone – the watch communicates with Bluetooth Smart via Bluetooth 4.1. In addition, it supports WLAN according to the n standard in order to synchronize without a smartphone.

In addition, the TAG Heuer smart health connected Modular 45 has a microphone, GPS for localization and NFC for wireless payment. The latter works via Android Pay, but currently only abroad. She doesn’t have a loudspeaker, so calling is not possible. We really liked the strong vibration motor, which is clearly noticeable despite the thick and heavy case. The battery in the smart health connected Modular 45 has a nominal charge of 410 mAh. The watch lasted around three days with little use. The continuous switching on of the display shortens the runtime immensely, so that in practice you have to provide electricity every day. The smartwatch is charged via four spring contact pins on an equally high-quality charging cradle. Landing from 0 to 100 percent took 88 minutes. In terms of software, the smartwatch does not differ from other watches that run with Android Wear and / or are offered significantly cheaper. The uniform user interface is developed by Google and has been continuously optimized over the years. In the current version, the main menu with all installed apps is displayed via a spiral, the operation is intuitive.
Hui outside, also inside: In addition to the look of the watch, TAG Heuer also supplies numerous dials in the well-known Carrera design. The templates can be equipped with one or more pointers, the color can also be changed. If you want to have it even more personalized, there is a studio application to adapt to your own taste. The smart health connected Modular 45 is a fully electronic smartwatch, but initially it looks like a classic wristwatch. Communicating this feeling was extremely important to the Louis Vuitton subsidiary, as TAG-Heuer CEO Jean-Claude Biver emphasized in a conversation ,“When designing this smartwatch, our designers followed the same guidelines as for our exclusive chronographs. They are like works of art ”.

At this point, we are somewhat divided: Yes, a design – especially with luxury goods – can have something artistic about it. In the same context, it also means that they are timeless! However, this is not the case with the smart health connected Modular 45. Watches with fine and precise mechanics can even gain in value and will be just as popular in 20 years as they were when they were launched on the market – if not more. But a smartwatch is nothing more than electronics with a short half-life. In this case a display, battery and a circuit board in a metal robe. There remains the question of modularity: is it really? We don’t think, but maybe that’s just a question of understanding. The manufacturer wants you to be able to switch. It is about other straps made of plastic or leather, band bumps or, if you have the money, to fit an analog watch into the existing bracelets instead of the smartwatch unit We like the look of the TAG Heuer smart health connected Modular 45, it feels valuable and expensive on the arm. But then there is the price that we as ordinary people simply cannot afford. [content-egg-block template=offers_list]
