Far from the stress of city life, The Omnia is a luxurious contemporary alpine retreat. In a setting of wood and granite, it’s time to relax. While the saunas and hammams of the spa invite our body to play with the temperatures, the plants reveal to us all their benefits during well-being treatments. Fine cuisine, a magnificent regenerating spa and a striking and changing view throughout the year, this is a delightful program. Without forgetting, skiing… with 300 km of slopes and more than 70 lifts. A “must” in summer and winter alike!

A contemporary alpine chalet

With its original architecture, on the mountainside, The Omnia is a contemporary take on traditional alpine accommodation. The famous architect Ali Tayar knew how to merge the American concept of lodges and the architecture of the Swiss Alps. The Omnia is a large chalet combining wood, steel and mirrored bay windows. The hotel is a member of the independent Design Hotels chain, famous for its repertoire of exceptional hotels.

Art plays an important role here. Many renowned artists have participated in the project, including the modular furniture company USM (exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York), which has become a major player in contemporary Swiss design.

The hotel has been recognized as Switzerland’s Leading Boutique Hotel by the World Travel Awards for the past three years, and is the top luxury hotel in Switzerland by TripAdvisor.

The hotel is located in Zermatt, in the very south of Switzerland, near the border with Italy. The nearest airport is Sion, 1h30 by car or 2h by train. As an alternative, we advise you to land in Geneva (2h40 by car, or 3h50 by train).

30 unique rooms

The Omnia reveals in particular its particularity through its small directory of 30 rooms, all unique. From each, you can admire the exceptional destination of Zermatt, from a balcony overlooking the mountain or the village of Zermatt. Some rooms (the Double Mountain Baths) have an elegant freestanding bathtub, ideal for enjoying the scenery during an intimate cocooning break.

Thanks to the different spaces of the hotel suites, it feels like in a beautiful contemporary apartment. With a magnificent open fireplace, staying in the mountains takes on its full meaning. And if you want to warm up after walking in the snow, some suites have a private sauna. The telescope in the hotel’s two largest suites is undoubtedly our favorite accessory. We love to observe the summit of the Matterhorn from every angle, warm in front of large bay windows. We never tire !

The Omnia benefits from a wellness center only accessible to hotel guests.

The superb hotel spa includes several saunas and hammams (Finnish, with floral waters, caldarium) as well as a indoor swimming pool with an outdoor area. It occupies a majestic place in the heart of the spa, just in front of the large mirrored bay windows. Just dive under the wall to be outside, to breathe the fresh mountain air. It is heated to 30°C and is equipped with six massage jets. Next door, a jacuzzi heated to 38°C, always with a sublime view of the village of Zermatt and the summit of the Matterhorn. Something to relax not only your body, but your eyes too!

The hotel recommends its guests to take a break in the Turkish hammam (called caldarium). Moving from cold to hot (40 to 50°C), in a humid place scented with natural herbal essences, helps purify the skin and the respiratory system. Just 20 minutes per session also allows muscles to relax and tendons to release pressure. A great way to de-stress…

To go from one bath to another, you can go to the Relax Room. With lounge chairs heated to 39°C, it is specially designed to let yourself be carried away in a little restorative nap.

The Omnia also benefits from a gym equipped with the latest Te machineschnogym, and the hotel has spaces dedicated to the practice of Yoga and Pilates.

Plants as foundations of well-being

The spa treatment menu is relatively succinct but effective to say the least. All massages and treatments are of high quality and personalized. The practitioners are experienced and the products used are of great choice. Indeed, as in the rooms, high-end products from the Australian brand Aesop are used. The spa also takes advantage of the properties of natural products from Farfalla, a brand with remarkable ethics and know-how.

After carefully reading the treatment menu, we understand why The Omnia chose to collaborate with Farfalla. Many treatments place the power of plants at the heart of massage practices and skin treatments. Especially with the nourishing ritual called Rohini. Plants are specially chosen for their adaptogenic effects. In other words, they are plants that increase the body’s ability to adapt to the different types of stress that the body and mind experience. The best known are ginseng and rhodiola.

Also note that a special rejuvenation treatment uses this same concept, in three stages. After deep hydration and relaxation of the nervous system, the symbiosis between the renewal of body cells and a regenerating massage, the muscles are soothed and firmed.

Refined cuisine by the fireplace

Within the hotel, quality takes precedence, right down to the heart of the plate. Regional and seasonal products are worked by Chef Hauke Pohl, trained in the French school.

Throughout the day, the “Terrace” restaurant serves simple and light menus. And it must be admitted, the view of the Matterhorn is a real pleasure for the eyes.

At THE OMNIA restaurant, scents influenced by local alpine cuisine meet trendy flavors. The restaurant’s small menu is up to date, offering dishes suitable for vegetarians as well as meat and fish lovers. THE OMNIA invites its guests to enjoy gourmet cuisine in a sober setting, with soft light and, in the background, the crackling fire of the fireplace. After dinner, you can enjoy a coffee or a grappa on the sofas by the fire.

The Board Room and the Lounge Bar also offer something to enjoy a drink or small delicacies, with your eyes riveted on the panorama. The Board Room is mainly distinguished by the sublime photographs of Balthasar Burkhard landscapes. If you are more drawn to artistic publications, the Lounge Bar could well become your Alibaba cave: its library houses hundreds of them.
